During the recent legislative term he was serving on the State Government, Local Government, Ways and Means committees and as Vice President of the and Health and Human Services Appropriation Sub-Committee. He previously served on the Agricultural Committee. Gerald explained his efforts to establish an Iowa Veterans Cemetery, as there is presently none in the state. He also is working to restore the Senior Living Trust funding. There are nearly a half million seniors in Iowa on Medicare. Gerald also noted he worked to get English as the official language for official documents. Gerald indicated budget constraints limit the enactment of much legislation. The governor during this past session vetoed sixty-two bills. Gerald is working toward another term of office to finish some of the legislative work in progress.
